History:

The Valley East Boxing Club was originally opened in 1972. A man named, Leo Bertuzzi, opened it up and was the head coach for 4 years. At the time he named the gym the "Woodland Boxing Club".

In 1976, Leo Bertuzzi left the gym and it was taken over by a man named Dave Legget Sr. When Dave took over it was decided that the curent name was tied to Leo Bertuzzi and didn't represent the gym. The name was changed to "Valley East Boxing Club".

Dave Legget Sr. ran the place for 3 years and then went his seperate way. When Dave Legget Sr. left in 1979, the boxing club was taken over by a man by the name of Bill Rannelli St.

Bill Rannelli Sr. kept the gym running and developped his sons into champions. The "Fighting Rannelli's of Valley East"

Unfortunately the Valley-East Boxing Club ran into difficulties and was forced to close their doors. Between the 1980's and 1990's, there was no Valley East Boxing Club.

In, 1999, the sons of Bill Rannelli Sr. decided to re-open the family's history. Rick Rannelli, and brother, Bill Rannelli, were now incharge. The next 3 years would prove to be very curcial in the survival of the club because it had been closed for so long. Rick and Billy, worked hard to advertise and get the members back to the gym. In April 2002, two new trainers joined the Valley East Boxing Club. Lawrence Ladonde and his brother-in-law, Mitch Selk. Rick Rannelli, worked with, Lawrence Lalonde and, Mitch Selk, to bring the Valley East Boxing Club to new heights.

Currently, Billy Rannelli, has been absent from the club; leaving, Rick Rannelli as the Head Coach. The boxing club is now back on track and growing stronger each day. Rick Rannelli, hopes to have the gym back to a powerhouse in amateur boxing in the very near future and if you were to walk in there today you would see that they are well on their way!! With 13 to 15 members (Both Guys and Girls), the new Valley-East Boxing Club is now exceptional boxing gym and is looking foward to producing more amateur boxing champions who will follow in the footsteps of the "Fighting Rannelli's. The Rannelli's passion lives on in us!
